William Magee

William Magee received a Ph.D. in History of Religions from the University of Virginia in 1998.

Magee is the author of several books and articles including The Nature of Things: Emptiness and Essence in the Geluk World, and is co-author of Fluent Tibetan: A Proficiency-Oriented Learning System. He was an Associate Professor at Dharma Drum Buddhist College in Jinshan, Taiwan and taught at Maitripa College in Portland, Oregon.

He served as Vice-President of the UMA Institute for Tibetan Studies and contributed greatly to its publications and its website over the years.

William Magee passed away on February 20, 2023. He was beloved by many for his warm personality and his humor. He is dearly missed as a colleague and friend.
